If you want to get inexpensive car insurance, you have many ways of lowering your premium

The best way to get a lower quote is by shopping around for a car insurance policy once you decide to get a new one. Because quotes can vary by hundreds (sometimes as much as a thousand) dollars, it is in your best interest to scout as many alternatives as possible.

If you haven’t yet purchased a car and cant decide what car to get, see what premiums you’ll have for each. Generally, the more powerful and expensive the car is, the higher your car insurance costs will be. Furthermore, the more safety features a car has, the less the premium will be.

If you’re really feeling the pressure from your car insurance premium, you can breath a little easier if you increase the deductible you have. The deductible is the amount of cash you pay yourself before the insurance company pays for the remaining damage to your car. Just make sure that you don’t increase your deductible by too much.

If you can, try buying a longer policy. Usually you can buy a year long or 6 month policy. Obviously, buying the longer policy will save you more money.

If you’re insuring an old auto that has little market value, you should remove collision and comprehensive coverage that your may have on it. The cost to insure the car may be worth more than the car itself.

Rather than relying on online sources for quotes, its always a good option to speak to the insurance company and to tell them as much about yourself so that they can give you any discounts you are eligible for.

There are a lot of insurers out there that will give you a reduced premium if you get your auto insurance with your homeowners or renters insurance provider. Despite this, you should always check out other insurance providers.

Be as safe on the road as possible. Your car insurance costs will go up with every speeding ticket or at-fault accident you get into.
