what kind of car insurance do I need if I want to be the main driver of my parent’s car away from home?

My parents own a car that they’re letting me use for school. I live in southern California, but I attend school in Northern California. I’ll be bringing the car up for normal use during the school year, and it will be garaged there except during summer. Do I need to buy my own car insurance, or will it work out if I just get added to my parent’s insurance?

gyu53, Home insurance covers lots of different things. I’m not familiar with the California regulations, so I recommend you visit a local home insurance agent. They should be able to help you.

Well you could get a few free quotes, there are a lot of discounts available for students. You should get full coverage so your covered if anything happens.

you do not need your own car. You can insurance on any car that you drive even it you dont own it.

If you shop online you can get a huge discount and if you have good grades you can save. I will list a link to a site that list some more discounts and you can get several quotes from different companies.
