    With a permit you will never be driving alone, and the adult in the front seat will be responsible for you. Once you have your license and can drive alone, your parents will need to add you as an additional driver on their insurance policy. Once you have your own car and are over 18 and living on your own, you will need your own policy.

    You have to have car insurance before you can legally drive on a public street. If you own a car, its up to you to buy the insurance. If you borrow someone else’s car on a regular basis, it would be decent of you to help with expenses like gas and insurance. Especially if insuring you increases the cost of the insurance for the car’s owner.
    Thats a part of taking responsibility for yourself. Kudos to you for checking into it.
